Search for axion dark matter in the laboratory and in the cosmos 30m

I would like to present a new experimental proposal, called LACME, to search for axion dark matter in the laboratory. If axions or axion-like particles are the main component of dark matter, they will modify the transport property of electrons and also the atomic spectra, which will give a new way of detecting axions ot axion-like particles. Finally I will discuss a topological soliton made of axions and its observational consequences in the cosmos.

Cosmic Birefringence from Dark Photon 30m

Recent findings of isotropic cosmic birefringence within CMB have sparked interest in exploring potential indications of parity violation in our universe. The prevailing interpretation is the existence of an axion background, a concept I will briefly review. On the other hand, my focus in this presentation will be the intriguing possibility of kinetic mixing between the CMB photons and birefringent dark photons as the underlying cause of cosmic birefringence. During this discussion, I will demonstrate that indeed the birefringence of the dark photons can influence the polarization of CMB photons even though this effect may not be uniformly distributed. Furthermore, our result sheds light on the pivotal role played by kinetic mixing in generating two fundamental attributes of the CMB: circular polarization and spectral distortion. This presentation is based on 2307.14798.

Exploring the Synergy of Kinematics and Dynamics for Collider Physics 15m

In collider experiments, an event is characterized by two distinct yet mutually complementary features: the global features' and thelocal features'. Kinematic information such as the event topology of a hard process, masses, and spins of particles comprises global features spanning the entire phase space. This global feature can be inferred from reconstructed objects. In contrast, representations of particles in gauge groups, such as Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), offer localized features revealing the dynamics of an underlying theory. These local features, particularly observed in the patterns of radiation as raw data in various detector components, complement the global kinematic features. In this letter, we propose a simple but effective neural network architecture that seamlessly integrates information from both kinematics and QCD to enhance the signal sensitivity at colliders.

Hunting for Hypercharge Anapole Dark Matter 30m

We conduct a combined analysis to investigate DM with hypercharge
anapole moments, focusing on scenarios of a spin-1/2 or 1 Majorana
DM particle interacting with SM particles through hypercharge
anapole interactions. For completeness, we construct general,
effective, and hypercharge gauge-invariant three-point vertices for the
interactions of a virtual photon or Z with with two identical massive
Majorana particles of any non-zero spin, after EWSB. We calculate the
relic abundance, analyze current constraints and future sensitivities
from the XENON$n$T DM direct detection and LHC (HL-LHC)
experiments, and apply the conceptual naive perturbativity bound
(NPB). Our findings demonstrate that the scenario with spin-1 DM is
more tightly constrained than that with spin-1/2 DM, due to the
reduced annihilation cross-section and/or the enhanced rate of LHC
mono-jet events. The spin-1 scenario can be almost entirely tested
after the full run of the HL-LHC, with the exception of a very small
parameter region. Our estimations anticipate even stronger bounds for
Majorana dark matter with higher spins.

An Effective Approach for Axion Wormholes 15m

Euclidean wormholes that arise in axion theories imply important phenomenological consequences in the context of the axion quality problem. In this work, we present an effective approach providing an analytic solution describing the structure of these axion wormholes. We identify the energy scales associated inside and outside the wormhole as the UV and IR regime of the wormhole respectively, which allows us to obtain the analytic structure for both the field-dependent wormhole action and its corresponding Peccei-Quinn violating operators applicable to a wide class of axion theories. We also give explicit examples that implement this approach, with some further implications and prospects.

        The Supersymmetric Gegenbauer’s Twin 15m

In this talk, we will see that for a spontaneously broken SO(N) global symmetry, there is an infinite class of radiatively stable pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone potentials: the Gegenbauer Polynomials. The “Gegenbauer Higgs” and “Gegenbauer’s Twin” scenarios are significantly less fine-tuned than their pNGB Higgs counterpart. These scenarios require relatively small values of the quotient (g*/yt)^2, suggesting that their UV-completion may be a perturbative theory. A compelling candidate for such a UV-completion is the Supersymmetric Gegenbauer’s Twin presented in this work.

RG study of U(1) models for muon g-2 and W boson mass 30m

Several extensions of the Standard Model have been proposed in recent years to address the experimental anomalies of the muon g-2 and the W boson mass. One such model, that includes an additional U(1) gauge group, a vector-like lepton and an enlarged scalar sector, was presented in Eur.Phys.J.C 82 (2022) 8, 661, where it was shown how the two anomalies can be simultaneously cured. In this talk, I will present a Renormalization Group analysis of this model. I will show what is its high-energy fate, with particular emphasis on how the stability of the scalar potential is modified with respect to the case of the Standard Model. Some generic features of the running of parameters in theories with enlarged matter and gauge sectors will emerge, and useful indications for model building will be pointed out.

        Leptogenesis driven by majoron 30m

We propose a leptogenesis scenario where the CP asymmetry is provided by the kinetic motion of the majoron in the decay and inverse decay of a right-handed neutrino which violates the lepton number by one unit. We find that successful leptogenesis can be achieved for sub-keV majoron which can be a viable dark matter candidate as well. If one considers a very strong wash-out regime requiring a huge kinetic misalignment, the right-handed neutrino mass can go down to the sub-GeV region which is sensitive to various HNL searches.

Uncovering Secret Neutrino Interactions at Tau Neutrino Experiments 30m

In this talk, I would like to investigate the excellent potential of future tau neutrino experiments in probing non-standard interactions and secret interactions of neutrinos. Due to its ability identifying tau lepton, DUNE far detector could have superior sensitivity in probing the secret neutrino interactions by observing downward-going atmospheric neutrinos, compared to the short-baseline experiments in Forward Physics Facility (FPF) at CERN. In probing the non-standard interactions, the large volume experiments such as HK, KNO, or ORCA could provide the dominant sensitivities. However, the inclusion of tau neutrino observation of DUNE could raise its sensitivity comparable to those larger volume experiments. Hence we point out the importance of increasing the tau lepton identification efficiencies in future experiments.

        B -> K \nu \bar{\nu} at Belle II 30m

Using 362/fb data sample of Belle II, we have studied B -> K \nu \bar{nu} decays at Belle II. In order to cope with final states with multiple neutrinos, we use two different methods for tagging, which are nearly statistically independent with each other. Combining the two methods, we find evidence for B -> K \nu \bar{nu} decays with 3.5\sigma.
